About
Ellena (Bennett) Young received her M.S in Bioethics with a focus in Clinical and Research Ethics from Union Graduate College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine--Center for Bioethics and Clinical Leadership, in New York, NY in 2008.
Ellena was a Legislative Ambassador for the American Cancer Society, Families USA and Healthcare For All New York (HCFANY), and has been an active healthcare lobbyist-at both the state and federal level-since 2005. Additionally, Ellena has served three years on the University of Washington Medical Center/University of Washington School of Medicine's Institutional Review Board in Seattle, WA, and two years on the Mount Sinai Hospital/Mount Sinai School of Medicine's Institutional Review Board in Manhattan, New York.
While in graduate school, Ellena was a pharmacoeconomics consultant and medical writer for the Bioinformatics/Pharmacoeconomic consulting firm, Arnold Consultancy and Technology, LLC. She's also a Reviewer of textbook proposals for Wiley Publications, in addition to being a Congressional Intern for Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY-21st District), where she focuses on issues in Health Policy and Health Care Reform.
Ellena is Doctoral Candidate in Philosophy at the University at Albany-SUNY, where her area of focus is; Personal Identity Theory and Neuroethics. Ellena is also completing her Masters in Public Health Policy and Six Sigma at Villanova University.
Her current research is in Issues of Personal Identity, Ethical Dilemmas Surrounding Neurodegenerative Diseases, Neurophysiology of the Brain; Altered States of Consciousness, and the Ethical Issues/Economic Dimensions of Various Public Health Policies.
